Gerald John Gorecki, age 73 passed away at home in Fridley after a long courageous battle with cancer on Thursday April 22, 2010. Gerald was born on 11/07/1936 along with his twin brother Harold to the parents of Anna and Frank Gorecki. He grew up in Sauk Rapids and graduated from Sauk Rapids High School in 1954 where he was involved in basketball, football, and track.Gerald served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1958 stationed in Germany. On his return to the states he worked at Simonsona�(TM)s Lumber in St. Cloud. He moved to Minneapolis and worked at Onana�(TM)s for 35 years.
Gerald was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed his lake home on Smith Lake for 24 years with his family and friends. His highlights were many trophy fish including a prized sturgeon.
He is survived by his wife Doris of 50 years, children Lynn Bowton, Joan Gorecki (Thomas), and John Gorecki (Val). Grandchildren Emily Bowton and Andrea Gorecki. Siblings: Lucille Hoscheid, Virginia Decker, Ralph, Harold (Marge), Mary (Marvin) Przyborowski, Joyce (Bruce) Fritsinger, James (Chris), and Michael (Cheryl). Including numerous nieces and nephews. Sister-in-law Carol and long time close friends Michael and Colleen Peterson.
He is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Anna Gorecki. Siblings Patsy, Ally, and Daniel.
