Elsie Magnan

On April 16, 1924 Elsie Mae Van Keuren was born in Roosevelt Township, Crow Wing County, Minnesota to Julius and Edna (Lynn) Van Keuren. She was united in marriage to Leon Magnan on October 29, 1944. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Minneapolis. Elsie worked many years as a waitress until starting at Hennepin County Medical Center. She would stay at HCMC for 15 years until retiring in 1989. Elsie would move to Hutchinson in 2003 remaining there until her passing on December 13, 2015. Elsie was a loving and caring individual who would welcome anyone to her home, offering them her delicious cinnamon rolls dripping in caramel and nuts. She enjoyed listening to old time country music and loved Elvis.

Elsie is survived by her children, Frances Flavin, Leona (Steven) Aaberg, MaryHelen (Norman Edstrom) Magnan, Susan Eckert, Nancy (James) Wright, Martha Magnan, Lesie Jo (Thomas Spurr, JR) Magnan, Julia Arthea Christenson, Joseph Magnan; daughters-in-law, Maxine Hallbeck, Joy Magnan; 32 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She is preceeded in death by her husband, Leon on January 12, 1976; children, Perry Magnan, Pauline (Conrad) Fehn, LeRoy "Boots" Haglund; sons-in-law, Rick Reiling, Daniel Gorman, Bill Flavin, Daniel Christenson, Jeffery Richards, and John Colsch, SR.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 17th with visitation 1 hour prior at Miller Funeral Home, 6210 Highway 65 N.E., Fridley. Interment to follow at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
