Elnora Smith

Elnora Irene Smith (nee Kiesz) born Feb. 25, 1923 to Alexander & Rosina (nee Bieber) Kiesz in Walworth County, SD. Passed away March 20, 2013 at the age of 90 years and 23 days.
She was baptized & confirmed in the Lutheran Church. After graduation from Bowde High School, she moved to Garretson, SD to study nursing, where she met her husband. She married Harold Sherwood Smith on July 8, 1941 in Bowdle, SD. They made their home in Plankinton, 6 SD where they raised there five children, Rosella Schreck, Connie (Gaylen) Smith, Kent Smith, Jane (Richard) Cowen, Melanie (William) Jordan.
In the fall of 1959, the family moved to Bereford, SD. She loved gardening, baking, cooking the big family dinners, sewing, knitting, playing games with the grandkids, traveling and motorcycle trips with Harold. Elnora awlays had a few projects going at once. She loved South Dakota, and made a lot of trips back to visit her family. In 1992, Elnora and Harold moved to Blaine, MN. During this time they spent the winters in McAllen, TX, and the summers in MN. They enjoyed all the new friends that they met there, and were very active in the community in TX.
Her final move was to Grace Point Crossing Health Care Center. In the short time she was there, she made new friends and had the staff loving her.
She was preceded in death by husband, Harold; parents, Alexander & Rosina Keisz; daughters, Rosella Schreck and Melanie Jordan; granddaughter, Rosemary Schreck; great-grandson, Anthomy Schreck; brothers, Kenneth and Arnold Kiesz; sister, Vera Meidinger.
She is survived by her 5 children; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; sister Vera Kiesz; sister-in-law, Joyce Kiesz; many nieces, nephews, cousins and so many friends.
We miss her, and are so thankful and blessed that she was our mother.
