Elizabeth Caroline Lundeen, age 100, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2019. Elizabeth was a loving, generous, and gracious woman who devoted her life to service and faith. She was born to Axel and Caroline Lundeen in Minneapolis on January 6, 1919. She graduated from Edison High School and earned a BS degree from the University of Minnesota School of Nursing. Following graduation she enlisted in the US Army, nursing in field hospitals in Okinawa and Tokyo. When she left active duty she returned to Japan as a nursing educator and missionary. Upon returning to Minnesota she began a 25+ year career in Minneapolis Public Schools as a beloved school nurse. Elizabeth was a lifelong member of Salem Covenant Church where she volunteered in many capacities. Salem was a cornerstone of her life and she treasured her many friendships there. Elizabeth loved to travel and spent her retirement years crossing the globe, including many trips back to Japan. She also loved her family and was happiest when everyone gathered in her home to spend time together. She was the bedrock of her family and provided incalculable love and support to everyone. She will be deeply missed.Elizabeth is survived by her sister Edith Elrod, brother-in-law Daniel Sannit, sister-in-law Myrna Erickson, many beloved nieces, numerous grand-nieces, a grand-nephew, two great-grand-nieces and one great-grand-nephew. She was preceded in death by her siblings Harold (Edith) Lundeen, Vincent (Dorothy) Lundeen, Millie Sannit, brother-in-law Calvin Elrod, and nephews Bryce Lundeen and Frank Cooper. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Salem Covenant Church, New Brighton, with visitation at 10:00 AM. Memorials preferred to Salem Covenant Church or any charity close to your heart.
