Blaine

Eleanor S. Harrison, age 88, of Blaine, MN, passed away on August 19, 2024. Born in Wakefield, MI, Eleanor dedicated over 40 years of her life to safely transporting children as a school bus driver. Her commitment to faith and family was evident to all who knew her. She was a lifelong member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Eleanor lived selflessly, guided by her strength and wisdom. She lit up every room with her contagious laughter. She was incredibly smart and quick-witted. An active and energetic soul, she cherished the outdoors, whether she was fishing, gardening, skiing, playing softball, or eating numerous cobs of corn. When you could catch her inside, she'd always be accompanied by a puzzle as putting those tiny pieces together was a true passion of hers.  A sports enthusiast, Eleanor enjoyed watching the Twins and Vikings, as well as Minnesota state high school basketball and hockey tournaments.

She graduated from Wakefield High School and remained closely connected to her roots and community throughout her life. She married Ralph Harrison, and together they spent 50 happy years enjoying each other. Eleanor's family was her foremost priority, and she always put their needs above her own, embodying selflessness in every aspect of her life.

Eleanor is survived by her sisters, Emily Johns and Sarah Beck; daughters, Dawn (Jeff) Anderson and Jill Harrison; granddaughters, Amanda (Tate) Bestwick and Melanie Anderson; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Ralph; parents, Hjalmer and Signe Mattson; brothers, Toivo, Carlo, Arne, and Robert Mattson; and sister, Elsie Latva.

A private service will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery for immediate family members. Miller Funeral Home of Fridley, MN, is assisting the family with arrangements. Eleanor's legacy of love and devotion will forever be cherished by those she leaves behind.
