Edward Thomas Griffin, age 90 Roseville MN, passed away peacefully in the presence of his family on May 3rd, 2022. Preceeded in death by his beloved wife Mary. Survived by daughters Denise (Vidar) Arntsen, Shelly (Jim) Wehr and son Tom Griffin, adored his grandchildren Steven Wehr (Emily), Rachel Wehr (Tony), Joe Wehr (Blair) and Hanna Arntsen. Ed was born and raised in Phoenix AZ on May 5th, 1931. He moved with his mother Hulda, sister Rowena and brother Jim to Minneapolis in 1941. He graduated from Minneapolis Central HS, attended college at LeTourneau University in Texas and the University of Minnesota. Ed enlisted in the US Air Force February 28, 1951 spent most of his time in Alaska at Elmendorf AFB. Was discharged with the rank of Airman First Class January 17, 1955. Ed met Mary Louise Anderson at First Baptist Church in Minneapolis where they held their wedding, followed by a car roadtrip Honeymoon to Alaska, a marriage that lasted 61 years when Mary passed away October 25, 2017. Ed was a Packaging Engineer at 3M in Maplewood for 32 years, he had many interests outside of work; traveling the world with Mary, the BWCA, fishing, group family camping (Okonto and St Croix State Park were regulars) Craft Group, Sharing Group, Boy Scouts, Adventurous Christians, Covenant Pines, volunteering Loaves & Fishes and all things construction and building. Ed has the unique distinction as the oldest person to receive a LVAD implant and was the longest living survivor with an LVAD. Ed was definitely "One of a Kind". Funeral service Tuesday May 10th, 11 AM at Salem Covenant Church 2655 5th St. NW, New Brighton, MN 55112. Private Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.  In Lieu of Flowers, Family request donations to the church.
