Duane Weisen

December 10, 1947 — November 24, 2016

Duane Charles "Klink" Weisen, age 68, of Fridley, MN and BAC Local 1, passed away at Unity Hospital on Thanksgiving Day after a long struggle with cancer and it's complications.

Klink is survived by his loving wife, Lorri (Havlish), sisters: Nancy (Brad) Dawson, Mary and Darlene Weisen, nieces; Ashley, Jamie and Stacy Jesser, and nephew Andy (Courtney) Dawson, bonus nieces Alexis, Rachel, Hannah Burbul and Trisha Knippenberg, and (estranged) son Shawn. He was preceded in death by Eleanor Ann (mother) and Louie Frank (father).

Born in Minneapolis, MN., Klink lived in Oceanside, California while serving in the US Marine Corps after his tour in Vietnam. Moving back to Minneapolis and working as a stone mason and tile setter with BAC Local Union 1, he worked for Grazzinni Brothers and Twin City Tile for his entire career. His ability to design and his attention to detail made him a master at his trade and much of his 'artwork' can be seen in places such as the Hyatt Hotel, Gaviidae Common, The IDS Tower, Hennepin County Government Center and many more buildings throughout the Twin Cities — along with many of his friends homes.

He married Lorri in 1999 (second marriage) and together they built several businesses including a hair salon that Lorri operated from 1998-2012, and the wildly popular Fair Do's! at the Minne-sota State Fair from 2002-2013, which was featured in the August 2008 issue of National Geo-graphic magazine.

Diagnosed with non Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2002, he went into remission for 4 years and then battled a recurrence in 2006. In 2009 he went into remission again, but multiple illness followed including Spinal Meningitis, COPD and Congestive Heart Failure. In May, 2015 he was diag-nosed with Lung Cancer and underwent chemo and radiation. This July, his cancer metastasized to his bones.

Klink was a giving and kind soul who always had a twinkle in his eye when he saw someone he loved. He would drop everything to help out a friend, was a brave and mighty warrior and a great inspiration to us all. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Nov 30, 2016 at 3pm with military honors to follow at Miller Funeral Home, 6210 Hwy 65 NE, Fridley. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Light refresh-ments and snacks will be provided at Kraus Hartig VFW in Spring Lake Park after the service (5pm) with a celebration of his life.
