Pikala, Donald, age 89 of Fridley, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Nov 16, 2021. Preceded in death by parents, Frank and Anna Pikala; siblings, Margaret, Frank, John, and Charles; and daughter, Pamela. Survived by loving wife of 64 years, Marlene; sons, Chuck (Janelle), Dan (Cindy), Steve (Laurie); 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and best friend, Marty Kouri. In 1955, Don was accepted into the Heat & Frost Insulators Union and worked hard as a commercial insulator until retiring in 1994. Don was a caring, kind, and loving husband and father. Among other things, he will be remembered for his love of the North Shore, laughing heartily at Laurel & Hardy films, enjoying a good Brandy Manhattan, fudging his cribbage scores, waking up for late-night cookies and milk, and spending quality time with his family and friends. Don was a faithful Catholic and a long-time member of the Slovak Catholic Sokol. Visitation from 5-7PM on Mon, Nov. 22 at Miller Funeral Home, 6210 Hwy 65 NE, Fridley. Mass of Christian burial on Tues, Nov. 23 at 11AM with visitation one hour prior at the Church of Saint Timothy, 707 89th Ave NE, Blaine. Interment Gethsemane Cemetery. Service will be live-streamed at millerfuneralfridley.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Sharing and Caring Hands.
