Age 98, of Columbia Heights and New Brighton. Born and raised in Minneapolis, he graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1937. He taught at Minneapolis Edison HIgh School 1937-42 and served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during WW II. He worked as service manager and sales manager at Onan Corporation for 37 years. He was an active member of Boy Scouts from 1927 until shortly before his death, receiving the Silver Beaver and Lamb awards. He was a member of AF & AM Masonic Lodge for more than 60 years. He built the family cabin and enjoyed many summers on Eagle Lake, in Fifty Lakes, Minn. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Mabel. He is survived by sons, Gregory (Susan), Daniel (Gabriela); and granddaughter, Katherine Breining-Hill. Memorial service, 11 a.m. Friday, July 18, at St. Philip's Lutheran Church, 6180 Highway 65 N.E., Fridley. Fellowship with family and friends will follow the service. Interment at Crystal Lake Cemetery, Minneapolis. Memorials preferred to St. Philip's, Boy Scouts of America, or Southern Anoka Community Assistance (SACA).
