Don was born to Charles D. Bailey and Hazel C. (Peterson) on June 29, 1923 and passed from this world to the next July 11, 2010. He was faithful to his wife and to God through his study of Christian Science. He served his country and his community and provided well for his family. He grew up in Minneapolis, MN and after high school volunteered for service in the Air Force during World War II and was called back to service in the Korean War. He was involved in Boy Scouts throughout his life. He served his community as a member of the Columbia Heights/Fridley chapter of the Kiwanis Club for over 50 years. He worked as a Banker and Vice President of the Columbia Heights State Bank. He was appointed Treasurer of Anoka County in 1972 and was re-elected to many terms until he retired in 1991. He will be dearly missed by his better half of 49 years, Marlyce; his son Robert (Barbara) and daughter Kathleen both of California; sons Scott, John (Sue) and David (Michele); grandchildren Jason, Nic, Paul, Charlie, Lydia, Anna, Benjamin, Leah, Levi, Daniel and Great grandson Chase; Brother Allan "Dewey"; Carlyn Buckingham; Nieces Jan and Emily; Nephew Nathan; grand nephews David and Terry and grand niece Anne; countless friends. He was loved by all who knew him. He is joining his parents and other deceased relatives including brother Ralph and his wife Gerry; son Benjamin; many friends and people dear to his heart. There will be a Christian Science Memorial Service on Thursday, July 15 at 7pm with visitation two hours prior at the Miller Funeral Home, 6210 Hwy 65 NE, Fridley, MN.
