Dennis Michael Flahave, age 76 of New Brighton passed away 8/12/22 at home after a long illness. He was born on 12/19/1945 in St. Cloud, MN. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carol (Meyer): daughter, Stacy Ramacher; son, Shawn (Kara); daughter, Lindsey (Michael) Przetycki; grandchildren, Katelyn, Connor, Benjamin, Carter, Stella, Barrett, Leo and Gage. Dennis was preceded in death by sons, Jason and Eric: parents, Harold and Pearl; and brother, Harold Jr.
Dennis was a long time realtor with Edina Realty and a former educator. He obtained a bachelor’s degree from St. Cloud State University and a masters degree from Cardinal Stritch University in Wisconsin. During his college days, he worked as a bartender and a musician with the GreenMen band playing bass guitar and trumpet. He was inducted into the Minnesota Rock and Country Hall of Fame in 2004. Dennis was an avid sports fan watching every sports event possible, especially the Twins and the Vikings. He was a great water skier and skied until the age of 69. He performed with the Tommy Bartlett water ski show for a season in his younger days. He was a Boy Scout growing up and earned the Eagle Scout badge. He was a great lover of fishing and organized several salmon fishing trips to Lake Michigan with his sons as well as Muskie trips with his buddies. He never wanted to miss the monthly poker games with the boys that went on for 40 plus years. He coached his son’s football team for many years and never missed any of his children’s soccer games, basketball games and dance recitals. He was an all around great husband, dad and Grandpa who loved his family more than anything. His fun and outgoing personality provided him with many friends over the years. He never missed an opportunity to tell those he cared about how special they were.
Memorial mass service will be held Saturday, August 20th at St. John the Baptist Church in New Brighton at 11am with visitation at 10am
In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to family to make charitable donations in Dennis’ honor.
