Constance L. Johnson, age 97, of Spring Lake Park, Minnesota passed away on August 23, 2024. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ross; parents, Martin and Eva Soine; brothers, Merril and Leonard Soine. She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Shelley Tallman (Ron); son, Cameron Johnson (Audrey); grandchildren, Amanda Johnson, Travis Johnson (Courtney), Jessica Tallman (Jon Powers); great grandchildren, Aria and Sloane Johnson; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and good friends.
Connie was born February 11, 1927, at her parents' farm near Maynard, MN. She grew up in a farm environment that valued community, commitment and traditional values. She graduated from Maynard High School and earned her Bachelors and Masters degrees at St. Cloud State University. She was a teacher at Cyrus, Big Lake, Cokato and finished the last 17 years of her career at Anoka Hennepin School District #11 for a total of 26 years, retiring in 1984. Connie will be remembered for many things, including her passion for family and her sincere desire to think of others first, forever putting other people's needs, interests and wishes before her own. She had a generous, giving heart and was a caregiver to her mother for several years and then cared for her beloved husband, Ross, who had Parkinsons Disease the last ten years of his life, passing away in 2009.
Connie had many interests, including gardening, writing, piano, movies, antiquing and the renovation of her ancestral historic farm where she was born and hosted many family reunions. She treasured the time spent at Lake Pelican near Ashby, Minnesota, and Twin Bear Lake near Iron River, Wisconsin, as well as the old farmhouse at Maynard, Minnesota, where everyone would gather from time to time.
Connie was an avid member of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church since 1957, serving on various boards and committees throughout her life. In her younger days she was an active member of the Democratic Party and participated in the campaigns of various candidates. She was also a group leader in the Camp Fire Girls for several years.
Like her husband, Ross, she emphasized the importance of education and services to others. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her love for God and her family will live on forever.
