Carmen Ione (Johnson) Thompson of Arden Hills, MN was born on July 18, 1943 in Rugby, North Dakota to Clifford and Ida (Kamrud) Johnson.
Carmen died at the age of 72 on Monday, December 21, 2015, at the Homestead of Anoka in Anoka, MN. Carmen attended high school at Hillcrest Academy in Fergus Falls, MN. Carmen married Terry Thompson of Rugby, ND in 1964. Though they divorced in 1975, their marriage gave Carmen her greatest joy which is her three children; Loren, Cheri Jo and Jeremy. Carmen loved being a mother and later a grandmother. Her family brought a smile to her face and you could never leave without receiving one of her big hugs.
Carmen enjoyed reading, watching old movies and visiting with friends and family. She also loved to sing and travel. Carmen's travels took her throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and even Africa. While traveling in Europe and Africa, she followed her dream of doing missionary work sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with her church choir. Carmen's favorite place in the world is Minnesota's own North Shore. She loved staying in the cabins right on Lake Superior and visiting the Split Rock Lighthouse. She found great peace and tranquility there, even sharing her special place with her sister, mother and grandchildren.
Carmen was preceded in death by her parents and sister: Marilyn (Anderson). She is survived by her brother: John Johnson (Priscilla) of Edmonton, Alberta, brother-in law: Lorenzo Anderson of Bottineau, ND, children: Loren (Christy) of Fridley, MN, Cheri (Rick Capistrant) of Blaine, MN, Jeremy (Jackie) of Isanti, MN, 9 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, along with many beloved extended family members and friends.
Memorial Service 1PM on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Miller Funeral Home, 6210 Highway 65 NE, Fridley, MN, with a visitation one hour prior.
