Carl Benson

Carl "Bezer" "LeRoy" Beonard Benson, age 83, of McGregor, formerly of Columbia Heights passed away on February 23, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Helen; wife, Carolyn; daughter, Tamara and siblings, William and Eleanor. Carl is survived by his children, Teresa, LeRoy (Terri); grandchildren, Ryan, Matt, Amy (Tony), Elizabeth, Brad and Abby; great-grandson, Austin. Carl was a Korean War Vet, and was proud to serve for his country. He worked several years as a Federal Mediator. While he was not working he was very involved with the sport of boxing; he boxed Golden Gloves before turning professional, and then ended his career as a referee. Memorial service will be held at 7 PM on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Miller Funeral Home, 6210 Hwy 65 NE, Fridley, with a visitation 2 hours prior. Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
