Bruce "Nutz" Myhre - We all lost another good friend and one of the most talented car painters there ever was. Bruce suffered a stroke on March 7th and passed away on March 9th at the age of 73. Quick, and no suffering, that is what some of us can come away with - the loss is hard to take, but knowing that one's friend did not suffer is comforting. Bruce and Char have always been Minnesota people at heart but they have lived in Texas for the last 30 years and only just returned to Minnesota this last summer.
Bruce had just recently gotten to where he was starting to do some car work in his new shop - and he was on top of his world! Spring just around the corner, this couple's blood was starting to warm up and they were looking forward to a great Minnesota spring and summer ahead. Bruce, as many of you know, has been involved in many famous projects over his life - putting some of the wildest paint on not only cars, but trucks, tractors, boats, airplanes and many other things. He has appeared in many of the name magazines and his work has won his customers accolades all across the country. "Nutz" was known by many - even those who were not car people would say, "I have heard of that name Nutz, isn't he a good painter". Bruce was known for being able to lay out some fabulous flame jobs and has been flown across the country on more than one occasion just for his ability to draw them on a hood or a fender. This was one of those talented people that Minnesota has become famous for. Bruce and some of his friends like Bill Gefre and Paul Christen who passed before him - were in a big way responsible for the car craze (Street Rods) being so successful in Minnesota. This area we live in has never taken a back seat to any other part of the Country when it comes to talented car people - in a big part because of Bruce and those like him. We will miss him like all the rest, and we are left wondering just what the larger plan is for us? These guys were not done yet! They were still in their prime, and now we are left to go it alone. Live each day for all that it is! We miss you Nutz! Submitted by Jerry Sullivan.
