TIGUE, Brian "Butch"
Age 69 of Blaine, MN. Beloved husband, proud father, devoted friend. After fighting a courageous battle against multiple cancers diagnosed May 23, 2011, Brian passed away with dignity and peace at home on Saturday, August 20th. Many thanks to Fairview Hospice Services for helping Brian with a dignified passing in his home with those who loved him. Preceded in death by father, LeRoy; mother, Dorothy; brother, James; sisters, Patricia Trapp, Donna Watters, Joanne Meyers; mother-in-law, Amanda Hulke. Survived by wife of 44 years, Annette; son, Corey; daughter-in-law, Julie; grandsons, Jacob, Cameron and Gavin; brothers-in-law, Olan Watters and Ronald Hulke; sister-in-law, Colleen Hulke; life-long friends, Gary (Teresa) Martin, Paul Buchholz, Timothy O'Laughlin, and Jon Dixon; loyal Pug, Zimmerman; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and former co-workers.
Brian was born in, and attended elementary and senior high schools in, Columbia Heights. He was drafted into the U.S. Army Nov 22, 1963 (President Kennedy's assassination date), serving in Vietnam in 1964-65. He was employed by Milwaukee Railroad, Onan Corporation, Minneapolis Public Schools, and Elsie's Entertainment Center.
Brian was a highly intelligent and talented man. A jack of so many trades, so very talented yet so humble about it. An avid car lover, his expertise with Ford Mustangs led to rebuilding several classic models. Brian was an outstanding cook; he made amazing burgers and chili. Brian loved attending auto shows, fishing, travelling, and relaxing on his patio with family or a word-find book.
In so many ways, Brian was like a hero in popular books; always strong in a crisis, always dependable and reliable. He had an amazing ability to make people laugh with his dry humor. Brian will be sorely missed, always loved, and always remembered.
Funeral service Saturday, 11:00 AM at Miller Funeral Home, 6210 Hwy 65 NE, Fridley. Visitation 5-8 PM Friday and also one hour prior to service on Saturday. Private interment Champlin Cemetery.
