Betty Louise (Nystrom) Schack

Betty, age 90, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2019 surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born in Minneapolis on March 23, 1929 to Maye (Bergh) and Joseph Nystrom. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, sister and friend. She was married to Jim Schack on September 9, 1950 and together they were blessed with nine children. She is survived by her children Cheryl (Jim) Wolff, Kathy (Tom) Wall, Mary (Kevin) Swanson, Steve, Diane (Tim) Doppler, Carolyn (Bob) Johnson, Joe (Valerie), Jim (Michelle), Stephanie (Tim) Kistner and siblings Helen Fowler, Joyce Kari, and Doug Nystrom. Betty was a selfless and caring person who had a special place in the hearts and lives of her 25 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She touched the lives of many with her great sense of humor, loving smile, and genuine appreciation for those who cared for her. Her family will be forever grateful for instilling the values of faith and love for one another. A special thanks to the staff at Park River Estates Care Center and J.A. Wedum Residential Hospice for the amazing care they provided in her final years. Visitation on Thursday, April 4th from 4:00pm – 8:00pm at Miller’s on University Funeral Home, 7398 University Avenue, Fridley, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. William’s Catholic Church, 6120 5th Street NE, Fridley, MN on Friday, April 5th at 10:00am with visitation one hour prior. Interment at Gethsemane Cemetery, 8151 42nd Avenue N, New Hope, MN.
