Alorie Jane Rotondo, affectionately known to many as "Kim," passed away on April 11, 2025 in Coon Rapids following a stroke. Born on July 19, 1932 in Melrose, Massachusetts, Alorie would welcome anyone into her heart and home, creating an atmosphere of warmth and acceptance.
After moving to the Chicago area just prior to her senior year of high school, Alorie attended Bradley University, where she met the love of her life, John Rotondo. Their love blossomed as they waltzed their way through formal dances, with special memories of attending the ROTC Captains Ball. After marrying in 1954, Alorie and John built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared experiences that spanned sixty-five years.
Having studied Home Economics at Bradley, Alorie took pride in her role as a stay-at-home mom. Her home was a happy place that often smelled of homemade spaghetti sauce, a tradition from her husband's Italian heritage. She was involved in her children's lives, volunteering for various activities and clubs, always striving to support their pursuits. Strong, direct and genuine, Alorie raised her children to embrace life and all it had to teach them. The laughter and joy that echoed throughout her household created memories that her children will hold dear forever.
Alorie enjoyed playing bridge, knitting, crocheting, sewing, reading history and biographies, listening to music, and the color pink. She had a talent for creating matching dance outfits for herself and John during the years they were active with the Square Dance Federation of Minnesota.
Proud of her east coast heritage Alorie belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution. Throughout her married life, she called N.E. Minneapolis home and later enjoyed the beauty of retirement in Eagan, Lakeville, and Blaine. As snowbirds, she and John cherished over 20 years in the warm embrace of Mesa, Arizona.
Alorie leaves behind a devoted family, including her children Rick (Deb) Rotondo, Dave (Margie) Rotondo, Pete (Rebekah) Rotondo, Ron (Ann) Rotondo, and Jean (Gavin) Atkinson; grandchildren Jenny (Ben) Williams, Jonathan Rotondo, Christopher (Sophia) Vetta, Eric Rotondo, James, Davey, Johnny, and Teresa Rotondo; Bailey, Emma, and Lauren Atkinson; and great-grandchildren, Magnus and Phoenix Williams. They will carry her spirit forward.
Alorie's kindness, laughter, and unwavering love have enriched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Placing her faith in God, Alorie anticipated the day she would rejoin her beloved husband John, parents Chauncey and Flora Potter and brother, Dave Potter. Though we will miss our mom, grandma, great-grandma, and friend, her legacy will live on through us all.
